Energy is contagious, both good and bad. Have you ever been around a grumpy, mean person, and found that their negative energy left a sour taste in your own mouth? Negativity and pessimism are undeniably everywhere. It is almost impossible to go out in public and not run into someone that has a frown or is complaining about something. To help shield yourself against these Debbie Downers, it is important to surround yourself with positive energy. Being around positive people and creating positive energy of your own will not only benefit your overall happiness, but could brighten the day of others as well.

One of the most important reasons to be around positive energy is the benefits that come along with it. One of the biggest impacts is stress. Positive people tend to handle stress in a much better way than those who are negative. The reason for this is because the positive people tend to focus more on what the solutions are for their problems instead of dwelling on it. Tackling things in this way makes stresses not so stressful and easier to manage.

The more positivity you are around, the happier you will be. One way to do this is by associating yourself with positive people. Have you ever noticed how happier people have more energy and are super fun to be around? Having these kinds of folks around will not only give you a better outlook on life, but it could pave the way for you to be a motivator for someone else.

Being around positive energy does not always have to involve other people. It also comes in other forms, such as the movies you watch, the music you listen to and the books you read. Be hyperaware of the kind of material to immerse yourself in. Having more “feel good” movies and books around you will give you that amazing euphoric feeling. These tools can also inspire and motivate you to do other meaningful things in life, such as volunteering or working on other areas of yourself, like your health.

The last thing I would like to note is that to be completely negative free, you will have to get rid of any toxicity aspects in your life. It could be a bad habit you have, or even a friend/family member. If the negative traits are too toxic for you and hindering your happiness, you should really consider cutting the ties. It can be hard to do this, especially if it involves another person, but you will feel the benefits of all that negative energy lifted from your life. Life is way too short to be anything but happy and positive.

Energy has a huge impact on us, whether we realize it or not. Our habits, motivation, energy levels, and overall outlook on life is highly driven by what we surround ourselves with. This is why it is so incredibly important to be around as much positivity as possible so you can enjoy life to the fullest.
